ALMATY - The Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) today reported the results of its Oct. 2-3 Conference “International Experience and Practice of AECSD Member Countries” organized and initiated by the Central Depository of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Conference topics include experience of international organizations and AECSD member countries in settlement and clearing services and corporate actions of issuers, results and prospects of AECSD interaction with regional associations of central depositories and other international organizations, and the role of legislation of AECSD member countries in CIS stock markets integration.

Approximately 100 people participated in the Conference during the first day. Among the forum’s speakers were representatives of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on regulation and supervision of financial market and financial organizations, Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, Kazakhstan Interbank Settlement Centre, CIS and Korea central depositories, major international organizations operating on securities market including Clearstream Banking S.A., SWIFT, Thomas Murray Ltd. The Cooperation Memorandum was signed by Korea Central Securities Depository and the Central Securities Depository of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the first day of the Conference.

The Annual General Meeting of AECSD members held on the second day of the Conference considered various issues of the Association activity and summed up the results of last year operation. The General Meeting agreed on the following issues:

• A new version of the Association’s resolution was approved
• Sherali Abduzhabbarov, General Director of the State Central Securities Depository of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was elected Chairman of the Association
• Operation of the Association’s secretariat represented by Ms Subbotina, NDC, was highly appreciated
• Working Groups activities were approved. The activities of the Working Group ”Depository Links” headed by Ms Aksenova, NDC, and the Working Group “Administration of the Association's Website” headed by Ms Kireeva, NDC, were highly evaluated by the General Meeting. The General Meeting also decided to suspend the activities of the Working Group for ”Development of Electronic Messaging Standards”
• Venues for next two AESCD Conferences were approved:
• VI International Conference is to be held in the Republic of Uzbekistan in October 2009
• VII International Conference is to be held in the Republic of Belarus in July 2010
• The National Depository of the Republic of Uzbekistan "VAKT" gained observer status in the Association
• NDC (Russia) was recognized for promoting the Association on the international financial market
