On 16 December 2025, the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories hosted a webinar titled "Legal Issues and Technologies". Participants discussed recent developments in international regulation and technological solutions implemented by central securities depositories across various countries.
Dr. Ekrem Arikan, Chairman of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories and the World Financial Forum (WFC), and Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Central Securities Depository, delivered the welcoming address. He emphasized that regular knowledge sharing enhances effective collaboration and promotes the adoption of global best practices.
The webinar commenced with a presentation by a representative of the Central Securities Depository of Indonesia, who highlighted the strategic importance of central depositories in driving innovation and strengthening financial system stability amid emerging challenges. The discussion continued with insights from the Iranian depository, which provided an overview of its progress in developing advanced technological products and services.
A dedicated section addressed regulatory updates. A representative from National Settlement Depository elaborated on the procedures for maintaining Type "In" accounts for foreign investors. The Turkish depository also detailed its account opening processes for foreign investors under revised regulatory frameworks.
Cryptocurrencies were discussed in the context of new regulations. Turkish colleagues shared their expertise in establishing a central registration system for crypto assets, also as part of capital markets regulatory requirements.
The webinar attracted over 50 attendees.
The Association's next flagship event will be the AECSD Summit in Istanbul, scheduled for 7–8 April 2026, hosted by the Central Securities Depository of Turkey (CSD).
